- phone - least work, greatest risk
- in person - good if you're charismatic
- email - most work, most control, can lack spontaneity
- IM - a good option if you're comfortable, spontanious but much less chance of being misquoted.
email and IM is good because it's the most likely that you'll be reprinted directly
